This open water channel and superb work of engineering starts at a spring called Font del Prat and runs for almost 8 kilometres. The driving force behind its creation was Montserrat Fontanet. After unsuccessful efforts by various engineers to bring water from the copious spring down to the estate’s houses, she managed to complete this magnificent project, which dates back to 1750, in just two years.
Mention must be made of the big aqueduct. This crosses a high precipice, with four arches separated from the vertical rock face. Another feature is Sa Foradada, a hole in the rock through which the channel passes. Shortly afterwards, you can find a stone that commemorates Sa Canaleta’s construction. All in all, it is a very pleasant journey back into history.
